Project

The construction of this parking is part of the actions included in the collaboration framework agreement signed on 22 June 2016 between ADIF, the Ministry of Public Works, the Xunta de Galicia and the City Council of Ourense. The new parking, with a great capacity for 302 parking spaces on two floors, is located in the basement of the Station Square and next to the new bus terminal, ensuring effective modal interchange for users.

The first underfloor has 145 spaces and the second 157. Of the total, five spaces will be reserved in each basement for people with reduced mobility. In addition, the project includes the redevelopment of the Station Square, including taxi stands, kiss and ride areas, motorbike and bicycle parking, etc.

The final result of this space freed of vehicles, after the adaptation of the railway station to high-speed services, is a new covered pedestrian square in front of the current station. According to the press release issued by the Railway Infrastructure Administrator, this space functions as an intermodal node and large representative public space, connecting the railway station, the new bus terminal, the underground parking and the urban pedestrian walkway between the neighbourhoods of O Vinteún and A Ponte.
