Project

The works of the new care centre for people with disabilities (CAPD) of Ourense, have a capacity of 110 places, of which 80 are residential and 30 day centre.

The proposed intervention covers a total area of approximately 5,700 square metres, of which 4,500 are usable. Work will also be carried out on the outskirts of the plot and will include green areas and car parks.

The project opts for a stepped building to better adapt to the slope of the land and minimise excavations. In fact, the building sits on the plot in the form of a comb, which generates several open courtyards and different spaces at different levels with good lighting and ventilation.

The proposal establishes three different levels of use for the distribution of the building. The lower levels are intended for the facilities and work areas for the centre’s staff, such as the kitchen, dining room and other services; the middle level contains most of the activities that the day centre will have; and the upper levels contain the residential area. The constructive and structural solutions chosen are aimed at reducing energy demand.
